Evolution of the internet
The internet has had a significant impact on the world’s development, whether it be positive or negative, for various reasons. As time has passed, the internet has evolved to adapt to the modern-day system. It has several advantages and disadvantages and continues to shape and shift lives.
It all began with the cooperation of many scientists and researchers, who worked together to create a platform to connect people worldwide and enable them to interact. Starting as a communication tool, it has since expanded into a platform for entertainment and social platforms. Social media apps such as Instagram or TikTok connect people around the world and have a significant impact on their lifestyle. While the internet can be beneficial in various ways, it also poses numerous unprotected and harmful websites that often go unchecked.
“I think the internet is useful in most ways, but you have to be careful, especially at a
young age,” said Deerfield Beach High School freshman Brianna Rivera.
Society has become highly reliant on the internet as it has transformed the way individuals learn and work. The internet provides access to a vast amount of information, which has made it a valuable tool for education. It has also created new opportunities for businesses and organizations. Additionally, the internet has enabled people to share their experiences and cultures on social media platforms, allowing for greater awareness and appreciation of different backgrounds.
While the internet has brought numerous advantages and opportunities, it also has its fair share of disadvantages. With its creation, problems such as online bullying, addiction, harassment, and more have emerged. Rising cases of depression in adolescents have shown connection to constant use of this technology.
The attention span of individuals has also greatly diminished throughout newer generations that have grown up with social media. Also, some websites violate their users’ privacy, buy and collect their information, and pose risk for identity theft. Despite the numerous positive aspects to technology, the disadvantages are just as significant.
The internet has undergone numerous changes over the years. It is used extensively
around the world, allowing people from different parts of the globe to communicate and
connect. In that light, it is crucial to exercise caution while browsing the internet.
