Bayley wins the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble

It is now officially the beginning of the road to WrestleMania. It is the biggest premium live event hosted by the World Wrestling Entertainment. The WWE is the most popular televised professional wrestling program in the world. Fans are excited about what is next for the wrestlers and their respective
storylines.

On January 27th, 2024, the Royal Rumble was hosted in Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Royal Rumble is a premium live event where 30 men and 30 women compete in their respective rumble matches where they must eliminate one another over the top rope with both feet touching the floor. The last one standing gets a guaranteed championship match at WrestleMania against the champion of their choice. This year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match had so many surprises, like the return of Naomi to the WWE, the return of Liv Morgan from injury, or even the grand debut of Jade Cargill, formerly of All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

“I am so happy to see the return of Naomi to the WWE. She is literally the best, and her athleticism is insane,” said Deerfield Beach High School junior Arlen Gutierrez-Uribe.

Bayley, one of the four horsewomen of the WWE, won the women’s match, and she gets the opportunity to pick either Rhea Ripley, the WWE Women’s World Champion, or IYO SKY, the WWE Women’s Undisputed Champion, to face one-on-one at WrestleMania for either championship title. Bayley’s goal, along with the rest of DamageCTRL, IYO SKY, Dakota Kai, Asuka, and Kairi Sane, is to hold all possible titles in the women’s division. IYO SKY, currently the WWE Women’s Undisputed Champion, and Kairi Sane and Asuka, the Kabuki Warriors, being the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, there is only one title left that Bayley would like to earn: the WWE Women’s World Championship, currently held by Rhea Ripley.

However, everything took a turn on February 2nd in an episode of SmackDown where Bayley was set to announce who she picks to challenge at WrestleMania, as IYO SKY and the Kabuki Warriors betrayed Bayley and attacked her. Bayley then fights back and makes the difficult decision of challenging her long-time friend IYO SKY at WrestleMania for the WWE Women’s Undisputed Championship.

“I am so sad that it happened, but I know that it will be a very good match to the main event
WrestleMania. The DamageCTRL storyline is definitely one of the best,” says DBHS junior Arlen
Gutierrez-Uribe.

Now that Bayley’s original plan with the rest of DamageCTRL has backfired, will Bayley’s new plan to
take the championship title off IYO SKY be successful? Fans will have to find out in the next episode.
