Success on the way for the Beach Boys

With the 2022-2023 football season finishing up, the Deerfield Beach Bucks have an eventful offseason ahead of them. A lot of training and working out is in store for the team. To get to the next level, the Bucks must practice 110% every day. Whether it’s simple conditioning or hardcore weight training, the Beach Boys are ready to do what it takes to succeed.

In the 2021-2022 season, the Bucks went 10-3, which is why Deerfield’s 3-8 record surprised many. However, Head Coach Tramain Hall’s expectations of the team were exceeded based on their performance this season, especially with key players transferring to different schools. Some players that transferred include four-star linebacker and Michigan State University commit Jayvant Brown, who went to St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and three-star safety, Harlem Howard, who holds five offers, took his talents to Blanche Ely High School.

“Given the circumstances we were under, our team played very well,” Hall said. “A lot of people didn’t think we would win a single game. We went out and won three.”

To get back on track, Coach Hall started his off-season workouts and conditioning on November 28th. He wants to make Deerfield Beach High the strongest football team in the state, mentally and physically in hopes of developing them into a better team than this year.

“Lots of running and conditioning,” Hall said. “We are also going to be in the weight room a lot as well.”

Given the young roster that Deerfield has, they are just a few pieces away from giving the fans what they want: a winning football team. Coach Hall is very confident in not only his coaching ability but also his players’ ability to improve in every aspect of the game. Hall is not the only person who knows Deerfield will improve next season.

“If our defense can stay at the high level it’s at, and our offense improves a little bit, we’ll be right back competing with the best of the best,” junior defensive end Trevon Chisholm said.

There should be a new-look Deerfield Beach football team next season. Now is the time when players progress and grow. The Beach Boys will be back in the 2023-2024 season, and they will make the fans at Butler Stadium proud.
