The Beach Boys are looking to gain momentum after their first loss

The Deerfield Beach Bucks football team had an outstanding 2021-2022 season, finishing with a record of 9-3. Deerfield went on multiple win streaks and only lost to Dillard High, Rockledge High, and in the second round of the playoffs to Palmetto High. With most of the team being seniors last year and a suitable number of transfers, the Bucks were left with no other choice than to enter rebuild mode.

In his first full year as the head coach of the Bucks, Tramain Hall is given a young team to work with. Hall entered last year after former head coach Jevon Glenn left due to personal reasons. There was a lot of training to get ready for the season.

“We came to the school early in the morning during the summer and had a lot of two-a-days,” offensive lineman Keijuan Mallory said.

Colquitt County High School, based out of Moultrie, Georgia, was Deerfield’s first opponent this season. The Bucks had to travel about six and a half hours to get to the game. One could say it was a long ride home for the Beach Boys, after losing 35-0 in Georgia.

“This game showed us that we have a lot to work on still,” defensive end Trevon Chisolm said. “If we want to go deep into the playoffs, we have to pull it together on both sides of the field.”

Deerfield looked past that loss and onto Fort Lauderdale High for their game on August 26th. The offense could not get it going, and they fell short to the Flying L’s, losing 23-15. They will have their home opener against the Coral Glades Jaguars, who lost to South Plantation 27-18 in their first game this season. Deerfield will look to use this game against the Jaguars to gain momentum for the rest of the season. The Bucks will be feeding off the energy of the fans at Butler Stadium.
