Employment Opportunity Ideas For Teens

As upperclassmen rapidly approach adulthood, they have to handle new responsibilities like driving, plans for after graduation, and a new sense of accountability. Today, it is normal for late teens to be employed, as getting a job helps with these new responsibilities and further expectations. Unfortunately, with little to no experience, teenagers find it difficult to find someplace willing to hire an inexperienced high schooler. Luckily, there are more options than what meets the eye.

Searching online is common with the existence of job recruiting apps like Indeed, LinkedIn, Snagajob, and JobAware, at their disposal. These apps give the ability to filter specific requirements for job preferences. Users may find jobs based on location, salary, shift hours, part-time/full-time, age ranges, employee treatment reviews, name of the position, etc. With these filtering features, teens and parents may find matches at their convenience.

Establishments most often willing to hire young people are fast-food restaurants in need of cooks and cashiers, as well as other sit-down and dine-in restaurants looking for waiters and cleaners. Grocery stores and supermarkets such as Publix, Winn-Dixie, Target, and Walmart also have positions that can be filled by teens.

Not every student attending Deerfield Beach High lives in Deerfield or near the school’s campus, so it is recommended for whoever is interested to check locations near their dwelling place, in addition to finding out if they are hiring.

Examples of eateries to apply to within Deerfield are Cracker Barrel, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Five Guys, Subway, Burger King, Pollo Tropical, Chipotle, and Panera. These are worldwide known food chains, it is more than likely to find one right across the street from another.

Many students can even find opportunities for employment within their neighborhoods. Parents, pet owners, and residents who tend to travel for long periods may be looking for babysitters, pet sitters, and plant/house sitters. Teens dominate the field of local paid deeds within a community because they don’t require experience and they have flexible work hours.

Ultimately, many aspects of a job require careful thought. Teens and their guardians must consider different factors: location, hourly pay, frequency of paychecks, modes of transportation, quality, and additional personal requirements. Finding the first job is not easy for many youths, but digging and investigating can unlock unforeseen outlets to start a new life chapter.
