As usual, as a new school year begins the time comes where parents have the opportunity to gain more knowledge about the school. On Tuesday, August 31st Deerfield Beach High School will be holding the annual Open House at 6:00 p.m. Parents will make their way to the students’ first-period classroom upon arrival and will meet with all of their child’s teachers.
This event is for parents to become familiar with the school’s expectations and plans for students, as it is important for parents to become involved in the students’ school career. This night will provide them with information about academics, sports and students’ day to day activities, including class schedules. As teachers will be reviewing their class’ syllabi, grading system, and curriculum. All parents will get the chance to ask questions and address any concerns they may have, but this is not for individual meetings those are scheduled through school counselors.
Maps of the school campus will be provided for those parents who need it to move class to class within their child’s schedules during Open House. Staff will be able to help guide along the evening as D.B.H.S. understands sophomores and freshmen class members and family are having are their first year of high school on campus. This transition from learning from home to now physically being present may feel overwhelming but teachers and staff are working together to make parents and students feel at ease.

6:00 pm – 6:05 pm: Mr. Marlow Principal’s Welcome Message
6:00 pm – 6:15 pm: Parents arrive to their child’s 1st period to meet the teacher
6:15 pm – 6:20 pm: Class Change
6:20 pm – 6:30 pm: Parents arrive to their child’s 2nd period to meet the teacher
6:30 pm – 6:35 pm: Class Change
6:35 pm – 6:45 pm: Parents arrive to their child’s 3rd period to meet the teacher
6:45 pm – 6:50 pm: Class Change
6:50 pm – 7:00 pm: Parents arrive to their child’s 4th period to meet the teacher
7:00 pm – 7:05 pm: Class Change
7:05 pm – 7:15 pm: Parents arrive to their child’s 5th period to meet the teacher
7:15 pm – 7:20 pm: Class Change
7:20 pm – 7:30 pm: Parents arrive to their child’s 6th period to meet the teacher
7:30 pm – 7:35 pm: Class Change
7:35 pm – 7:45 pm: Parents arrive to their child’s 7th period to meet the teacher
7:45 pm – 7:50 pm: Class Change
7:50 pm – 8:00 pm: Parents arrive to their child’s 8th period to meet the teacher
8:00 pm: Dismissal
AS A REMINDER: Guidelines set forth in Policy 2170-E, Face Coverings, must be adhered to while on Deerfield’s campus. Safety measures like social distancing and wearing a mask will all be taking place within the evening to assure the safety of parents and staff.
