Volleyball season recap

As with the 2023 volleyball season ending, the Deerfield Beach Lady Bucks are looking back on a challenging season filled with pride. Both the junior varsity and varsity teams gave it all this year. Despite a record of 9-11 for the Varsity team and 2-6 for the JV team, there is no doubt that their teamwork and dedication wasn’t at an all-time high.

This previous chapter brought lots of new players and techniques; with Head Coach Nolan DeBrocq and Assistant Coach Debbie DeBrocq, both teams made improvements throughout the season. These advances helped the varsity team to compete in the playoffs.

“I think this past season has gone great, but I know we could have done better and won some more games”, said Deerfield Beach High School freshman Milena Medeiros.

Although the season was tough, the support of teammates, coaches, and friends made it all worthwhile. Learning new skills and techniques with great teammates is something every player experiences on the team. The harmony displayed by each member shows the connection between them.

“As a starting freshman on Varsity, I think this season has gone great. Having a real connection with a whole new team is big for me. My mindset going into those harder games was to stay focused but stay humble at the same time. But also, to be ready for anything”, said DBHS freshman Audrianna Calvet.

Volleyball requires keeping focus while staying prepared so that all the players can contribute to the team with their full potential. The Deerfield Beach Bucks are dedicated to maintaining this bond with their teammates and striving to do their best.
