Expectations on flag football

As the ongoing girl’s flag football season continues, many expectations have been met. The Deerfield Beach High School’s Lady Bucks have a current record of 4-1 with their only loss being Piper High School. They are currently on track to have a better record overall than last year, which was 6-6-1.

“This season we expect to win more games than last year,” said DBHS senior wide receiver Danaelie Labardys.

Every player is expecting to make it to the district finals or championship. Everyone also plans on bettering themselves and their teammates as well as having fun while they work hard. Normal practice for them consists of warming up with a handful of different stretches and a constant condition so they build endurance and stamina. Situational practices are also implemented in every practice to do a run-over of circumstances that could happen in a game.

“We’re out here practicing and working harder than our opponents,” said DBHS flag football Coach Gadson.

Not only are they out there on the field practicing, but they are also having fun by achieving their own personal goals together.

“My personal goals are to better myself and for the team to have a great season and to not act undisciplined while having fun in which we have great captains to keep us motivated,” said DBHS senior running back Jenna Nelson.

Coach Gadson believes the difference between this season and last season is the team chemistry. The last team was disconnected which caused cracks in communication during games. This year, they overcame obstacles that coined their way as a team.

The DBHS girls’ flag football team has their next game on March 15th at 4:30 p.m. as an away game against Blanche Ely High. The schedule for the rest of the season is available to see on MaxPreps.
