New faces enter the top four
The 2022 college football playoffs are just around the corner. Both semifinal games will be played on December 31st. Kicking off the two-game affair in the Fiesta Bowl is the number two-ranked University of Michigan taking on number three-ranked Texas Christian University (TCU) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, at 4:00 p.m. EST. Following that game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, at 8:00 p.m. EST, the number one-ranked and reigning champion, the University of Georgia will battle the number four-ranked University of Ohio State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
The TCU Horned Frogs represent Texas Christian University in the NCAA Division 1 football subdivision and finished their regular season at the top of the Big 12 Conference with a record of 12-1. Their opponent, the Michigan Wolverines, finished at the top of the Big 10 East subdivision with a 13-0 record. The Georgia Bulldogs, who are favorites to win it all, finished with a record of 13-0 in the SEC East, which placed them at the top of their division. The Ohio State Buckeyes finished 11-1, just under Michigan in the Big 10 East division.
Deerfield Beach High senior cornerback and captain Patrick Darelus is committed to the University of Eastern Illinois and will play football at the collegiate level. Darelus is rooting for Georgia to win the college playoffs, specifically because of Broward County native, Marcus Rosemy.
“I think Georgia is going to win,” Darelus said. “I like Marcus Rosemy because of his game, and he is also from Broward County.”
There are two returning teams from last year’s playoffs, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Ohio State Buckeyes. With Michigan and TCU entering the top four, the college football playoffs will be full of excitement. The semifinal games will be held on December 31st, 2022, while the National Championship Game is scheduled for January 9th, 2023, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, at 7:30 p.m. Stay tuned as the madness of college football playoffs begins.
