DBHS baseball team improving for the next season

After finishing with a 12-10 record in the 2021-2022 season, the Bucks are looking to improve after the team went downhill since they lost six of their last eight games. The Deerfield Beach

High boys’ basketball team started the previous season hot, winning eight of their first ten games.

The Bucks started training for the 2022-2023 season in June, where the team built chemistry over the summer and prepared for Fall Ball. The Deerfield bucks used the time they had together to improve their skills and figure out what needed to improve for the spring season.

“We put in the work, and we all came together and built chemistry with one another,” DBHS junior pitcher Ryan Jarrett said. “We have not stopped playing together since early June, so I think a district championship has to be our first mission to complete.”

Along with the new additions to the team, the Bucks will find upgrades in their production this year. With some seniors leaving last season leaving holes to fill, Deerfield is finding what works and getting the system they need to succeed.

“I wasn’t here last year, but from what I heard, we couldn’t pull out wins in the close games,” DBHS junior outfielder, CJ Dalton said. “Now we have loaded a pretty good team together to fill spots that weren’t there.”

Deerfield Beach High is competing in the BCAA Tournament from Tuesday, February 21st through Saturday, February 25th. The first game of the regular season is Monday, February 27th, against Miramar High at 6:30 p.m. in Deerfield Beach High School.
