Bucks finish the season with astounding record

The regular season is coming to an end introducing the Deerfield Beach High School’s boys’ varsity basketball team’s start to the playoffs in high hopes. In the previous season last school year, the Bucks finished 13-8 and lost to Coral Springs High in the District Semifinals game of the playoffs. But this comes with strong repercussions from the new team coming forward with solid statistics.

“This season we have a lot more energy and motivation than we did last season,” said DBHS senior forward Jason Morris.

The Bucks attained big-time wins throughout this season, such as the opening game against Cardinal Gibbons and the final game of the regular season against Cypress Bay High. They started with a victory and ended up with multiple win streaks earning their impressive 19-3 record. The boys’ varsity basketball team now holds the number one seed in the 2023 playoffs.

“We knew we had it in us to win big games and show everybody what we’re about,” said DBHS senior guard Joe Barksdale.

Deerfield Beach High’s team practiced and trained intensively every day. Whether it’s in the private weight room or on the court running through past games and creating new strategies from past losses, the Bucks put all their effort into it, and take it very seriously.

“This has been the best year of basketball that I’ve played in my life,” said DBHS senior guard Raynaldo Narcisse. “I would like to thank the coaching staff and my teammates for an amazing season. It really does take a little bit more to be a Buck.”

The next game for DBHS is on Wednesday, February 1st, against Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:30 p.m. at Fort Lauderdale High School. This is part of the annual Big 8 Tournament. The Bucks’ playoff run will begin on the week of Monday, February 6th. Stay tuned with fhsaa.com and MaxPreps for more information on Deerfield’s highly anticipated playoff run.
