The winter sports season has arrived at Deerfield Beach High. The original slate of basketball, soccer, and wrestling matches were delayed from their typical late-November start due to the pandemic.
Deerfield will field competitive squads for this year’s basketball campaign, which includes varsity and junior varsity for the boys and only varsity for the girls’ team.
All three teams will have a ten-game season, including eight home games. The first matchup for each team will be today, Jan. 5, against Dillard at home.
“My hopes for the season and the team is that we have a very successful record, go to the playoffs, get past districts and go to states,” varsity sophomore Damerius Summers said.
Tickets for Wednesday’s Deerfield vs. Northeast girls’ match-up can be found here, as no tickets will be sold at the door and there is a limited amount of people allowed in DBHS’ gym.
