Enriching experiences in Spanish Club
Latin America holds centuries of rich culture burned by a strong flame in its natives. Deerfield Beach High School’s Spanish Club preserves its light through shining it on Hispanic cultures while honoring the language and the traditions it presents. Every meeting presents a learning experience helpful to understanding its vast countries and residents.
The Spanish Club offers students a safe space to come together and discover more about the history of Latin America. Members can make connections, interact, and learn together through engaging activities. Spanish Club sponsor Sra. Alva welcomes students every other Wednesday to room 137. Meetings take place to offer students a variety of interesting opportunities and help them understand their world that might possibly feel foreign to some, better.
“It’s important for students to learn because it may help them be more aware of practicing compassion,” DBHS Spanish Club teacher Sra. Alva said.
South America holds a diverse and authentic community with interesting cuisine, music, art, and lifestyles. Which some might not be familiar with even if they identify with a Latin ethnicity. It’s important to showcase individual forms of self-expression and customs. Enlightening oneself through indulging in another’s way of life is the keystone of Spanish Club. Students enriching themselves with foreign experiences is one step to creating a more open-minded and accepting society.
When joining, there are plenty of opportunities to take part in cultural expression. Spanish Club emphasizes this through introducing interactive and culturally significant games and offering tutoring alternatives. Students can also find a more enjoyable learning environment in the classroom’s atmosphere full of fun and excitement. Members can find this welcoming atmosphere at every meeting and broaden their perspectives through participating.
Spanish Club strives to diversify the views of students unaware of the cultural influence and traditions that Latin America has had. Members are encouraged to maintain an open mind while bringing each other together. Everyone is welcome after 2:45 p.m. to make friends, learn, and find new experiences through the engaging activities and opportunities found every meeting.
