The Bucks are Swinging Through Season

With the ongoing Deerfield Beach High golf season, the bucks have been playing very well when it comes to their practice/games and are looking ready for the upcoming matches. Golf is usually a single-person sport but, in this case, it is a team effort. A team wins by having each of their players play their ball throughout the match and the player having the lowest score wins the hole for their team. The team with the most amount of points wins.

Fresh-men player, Easton Viveros, believes that he and his teammates could make it to districts, but Coach Johnston believes that Viveros has the skills to make it to regionals. Compared to last year, this is a huge step forward.

“Last year we did not have a team, we did not have a team for the past few years due to covid,” Coach Johnston said.

This challenge left Deerfield desperate for players. Although they have a few players on the team today, they always will be grateful for any help to take the golf program at Deerfield Beach High to the next level.

“Our only weakness is our lack of members,” said Coach Johnston. “If you know anyone interested in golf, please come to room 324 to speak with me.”

There are many players on the team with little experience, so they must practice hard every day. Even outside of their daily 3:00-6:00 p.m. practices, the Bucks need to take it into their own hands if they want to improve their skills.

“We have been practicing daily and have only gotten better and better,” Viveros said.

Deerfield’s next golf match is Monday, September 19th against Taravella High at Deercreek at 2:15 p.m. Come out and show your love to the Bucks’ golf team!
