A lack of financial support, resources, and emotional support plays a leading role in jeopardizing the education of students. These factors affect their performance in and out of a learning environment while simultaneously threatening their future.
Bucks Academic Camp is Deerfield Beach High School’s action to counter this rising issue. Within the program, students will have the opportunity to receive one-on-one tutoring and testing preparation from a DBHS teacher. Tutoring and test prep will be available for Algebra, Geometry, English and Language Arts, Biology, and Chemistry.
In addition to subject area tutoring, credit recovery will be offered through Edmentum, an online platform designed to drive student achievement for academic and career success.
The camp will be split into two sessions each week: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. On Tuesdays, Credit Recovery for Algebra and Geometry and tutoring for Literacy will take place. On Wednesdays, Credit Recovery for Algebra and Science and Test Prep for English Language Arts will take place.
To enroll in the camp, students must visit the Buck’s Academic Camp Canvas page. Here, they will also be able to access modules for each subject and find detailed information, instructions, and expectations regarding the camp.
Bucks Academic Camp will continue until Tuesday, May 11th, 2022. With this opportunity, students have ample time to re-engage with their education, improve grades, and ensure a successful track to graduation.
