The Inside Out sequel

Get ready to dive back into the world of Pixar because the Inside Out sequel, Inside Out 2 is officially in the works and confirmed to be coming out on June 14th, 2024. Due to the outstanding success of the first film, fans have been incredibly excited about the sequel, and the trailer for the long-awaited movie did not disappoint.

The first movie tells the story of Riley Andersen, played by Kaitlyn Dias, an 11-year-old midwestern girl dealing with the changes of moving to a new place due to her father getting a new job in San Francisco. Riley’s emotions: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, try to guide her through the ups and downs of this life-changing event. Plagued with the stress of the situation, conflict arises between the emotions, and while trying to fix things, Joy and Sadness get swept up far into the depths of Riley’s mind and meet Bing Bong, Riley’s old imaginary friend. He tries to help Joy and Sadness, but some new issues arise. In the end, Sadness saves the day, and we see Riley’s future, where her life is good again and she is happy.

Similar to the original, the new movie will include the same beloved characters Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. Although some voices are being changed. Instead of Fear and Disgust being voiced by Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling, they will be voiced by Tony Hale and Liza Lapira. The movie is going to include the addition of new characters like Anxiety, who will be voiced by the iconic Maya Hawke, who has already had many well-known roles in shows like Stranger Things and Little Women.

While Anxiety is the only new character who shows up in the teaser trailer released by Pixar on November 9th, 2023, fans assume there will be more additions to the crew based on the movie poster. In the teaser trailer, Anxiety says, “We wanted to make such a good first impression.” This led many to believe that Anxiety is not the only new emotion that will be introduced in Inside Out 2.

“I liked Inside Out, and I cannot wait to see what Pixar will do with the sequel. Although I am a little bit concerned about what Pixar will do to ensure there are not any plot holes in the story, While I am excited about the new emotions, I feel like it is kind of random of Pixar to add them because in the original movie when we were allowed to see characters other than Riley’s thoughts, the only emotions shown were the main five. Either way, I cannot wait for it to come out because I want to watch it,” said Deerfield Beach High School freshman Christoph Powell.

The addition of new characters is extremely exciting, as fans will get to see how the original emotions interact with the new ones. Also, in the new movie, fans will be able to see how the emotions help guide Riley through this new stage of her life, where she becomes a teenager. Pixar has not released much in terms of plot, but fans have predicted that the movie will be a hit and just what Pixar needs. However, some fans believe the opposite and are wondering how Pixar will justify the addition of a new emotion.

Disney and Pixar do not have anything to worry about concerning the number of people who will watch Inside Out 2, seeing that the film’s trailer has had a huge launch, bigger than any others in the studio’s history; taking the place of Frozen 2 (2019) with an incredible 157 million views in only 24 hours.

Inside Out was immensely popular with families, so there is no doubt that Inside Out 2 will have the same fate. This movie will be a chance for families to sit back, relax, and hopefully see a little piece of themselves on the big screen. Have fun, eat some popcorn, and make some core memories in theaters on June 14th.
