National Honor Society fall activities
The National Honor Society is a nationwide organization for high school students. The NHS is founded on the principles of service, leadership, scholarship, and character. As part of their duty, the club participates in many ways to serve their community. This Fall, members are eager to engage in activities during the season of giving.
The National Honor Society is a prestigious club with high standards for those enrolled. Sophomores and juniors who wish to join the program have an opening in December. Pending students must have at least a 3.25 GPA, a minimum of 60 hours of service on record, and must also display the four criteria of the program. While members donate their time and serve the community, they are also rewarded with service hours for every event.
Currently, students are directing their support toward the toy drive for the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The hospital is a leader in pediatric health, treating kids and generously entertaining them during struggles with donated gifts. Students who wish to participate in spreading the holiday cheer are asked to donate new toys into designated boxes in teachers’ classrooms. Additionally, the club had hosted an earlier harvest drive to feed local families of Deerfield in need.
Club sponsor Mrs. Cruz plans for members to participate in a Secret Santa event, which would work in the same fashion as the Valentine’s Day tradition. Engaging students are expected to buy a gift for a significant person in their life and it would be delivered to them in class. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals to express their admiration for someone in their lives with a sweet treat.
The National Honor Society is a model example of showing off the spirit of giving and kindness. Members of the National Honor Society are driven to better the school and community. The National Honor Society is planning for a month filled with fun and servitude.
