Marks Season One Finale of the Series
Interactive and horror are just two genres that categorize The Dark Pictures Anthology. A thrilling video game that puts the player in charge of all the options the character can make. The player must make choices that will determine the fate of the characters and the ending of the story.
There are three current Dark Pictures Anthology games: House of Ashes, Little Hope, and Man of Medan. The fourth game, The Devil in Me, is the season finale for season one, scheduled to release in 2022. Not much information is known as of now about it. Many fans predict the release date will be October, in time for the spooky season.
Supermassive Games, developer of Dark Pictures Anthology, have developed their first serial killer game, The Devil in Me. Five people are invited on a tour to a murder mansion. The design of the building is known to be a replica of the nation’s first serial killer, H.H. Holmes hotel nicknamed Murder Castle.
Because the game series is survival horror, it is rated M for Mature audiences of ages 17 and up. It has intense violent scenes, strong language, blood and gore, sexual references, and drug references.
The first game is Man of Medan, released on August 30th, 2019. Man of Medan is about four friends and a captain on a holiday trip out at sea. Their plans crumble when pirates attack them. With no way to escape them, they run to the haunted ship where pirates are not the only ones hunting for them.
Little Hope is the second game that launched on October 30th, 2020. Instead of being trapped in a ghost ship, it is a ghost town. Four college students and their teacher get into an accident on a foggy road in an abandoned village. With no way to get help, they venture into the town where past visions and ghosts haunt each character, making one wonder if it was a coincidence for everyone present to be there.
House of Ashes released on October 22nd, 2021. A military unit of five gets trapped in an underground temple during the Iraq War. They encounter government enemies and vampire monsters hibernating in the depths of the Earth. They must work together with the enemy if they want to see the light of day again.
Another game by the same developers is Until Dawn, an interactive thriller game with eight characters and different routes the story can take. Compared to the Dark Pictures Anthology, both are interactive horror. All Supermassive Games can only be played with an Xbox One, Xbox series, Playstation 4, and 5, or found on platforms to watch someone play the game, such as Youtube.
Whether The Devil in Me is played alone or with a group of friends, it is also enjoyable to watch another person play through it on platforms such as Youtube. However, it is recommended to watch with someone else in case a ghost or murderer decides to continue their hunt for new victims.
