Embracing Father Figures in a Child’s Life

As young students, many may not realize the importance of their father until much later. Therefore, the statewide celebration “Dads Take Your Child to School Day” will take place on Wednesday, September 22nd to honor the male role models within a child’s lifetime. Stepfathers, uncles, foster fathers, or whomever someone may consider their father figure will count for the event.

Furthermore, the “Dads Take Your Child to School Day” will spend the day highlighting how fathers engage in a child’s education and school life. A staff member will be selected as a volunteer for the week’s activities. During the event, it is preferred to share the experience on social media or to the Office of Family and Community Engagement, accompanied by the date, location, and time using #BCPSDadsMatter.

Supporting fatherhood is a priority to the state’s schools, including Deerfield Beach High. Celebrating the contributions to their child’s education is not only an act of appreciation but encourages other male mentors to get more involved. Setting the example in the youth now can pass on to future generations.

The event promotes students to bring their fathers, or others who may fit the title, to their school’s campus from Wednesday, September 22nd through Friday, September 24th. This is to celebrate their contributions to education and highlight how it’s vital for them to engage further.

D.B.H.S. praises whoever may be setting positive examples in students’ lives and would like to commemorate the effort. The student participants can create a video essay thanking their fathers, for a prize and recognition on social media. We anticipate meeting you and your fathers.
