The MCR x HipDot makeup collection awakes fans from their
Awoken emos and punk rock fans rejoiced as the emo band launched their collaborated makeup range with HipDot. With a trail of messages and suspicion, the collection was finally released, on December 10th.
Beforehand, the band had posted cryptic teasers on Instagram foreshadowing the release. Fans speculated something big in the works after HipDot posted the same teaser. And so, the range soon came out.
However, in the beginning minutes of the sale wiped out all stock. With a wave of early 2000s nostalgia and incredible hype, the collection met an uproar of shoppers. Fans shared disappointment as their awaited release crashed the HipDot website.
Many Twitter posts flooded the site with livid people. Some connected buying sold out MCR RETURN concert tickets to this catastrophe. Others argued that getting RETURN tickets was easier.
But to relief, the website issued a pre-order of the restock which would arrive sometime in March. Nonetheless, collection items will inevitably launch soon at Ulta and Hot Topic for fans to get their emo fix.
The line consists of a brush, eyeliner, and iconic eyeshadow palette inspired by their Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge era. For animal lovers, the collection is vegan and cruelty-free.
The brush is double-ended and retractable, used to apply their hauntingly funeralesque eyeshadow. A double-ended liquid eyeliner pen is equipped as well to get the gothic spirit going. All are encompassed in the red and black theme of their famed album.
Although the launch was considered terrible by many, the makeup itself holds up well. As for the eyeshadow swatches, they are vividly pigmented for a debonair look. Its ghoulish packaging is very reminiscent of the 2004 album.
Overall, the design is very simple yet alluring. For beauty gurus or those who just expect quality, the eyeshadow seems to have little fallout. As for the eyeliner, it is felt tip and easy to use.
The palette combines vibrant warm colors and chill-cool tones excellently. With experience, a macabre emo look can be executed perfectly through this collection. However challenging it may be to buy these items, it might be worth the effort.
As far as My Chemical Romance goes, they have bewildered fans across with dedication to their music. While disbanded, listeners have a special token of their legacy in this makeup line.
