With the Bucks beginning their preseason against Coral Springs and Coral Glades High School, the boys’ varsity baseball team fell to two losses. The boys will look to use the double-hitter preseason games as a learning curve to a season that is just starting for them at the end of February. The Deerfield Beach High School team will take the positives and negatives within these games to the future games to make a better flow within season games.
The Mighty Bucks began the game with three consecutive hits from CJ Williams, Tomas Batista, and Keshawn Herring with a strong start to Deerfield’s first game of the night on Tuesday, February 14th against Coral Springs. The downfall started when the Bucks’ right fielder, Boris San Martin, robbed a homerun by jumping over the fence, and pulling back in. At the end of the game the Bucks fell to a 5-6 loss with the help of errors in the infield by Keshawn Herring in the seventh inning, giving Coral Springs a walk off win.
During the second game, the Bucks had a major loss as the score became 13-1 quickly. The Bucks expressed no offense besides a solo homerun by Peter Robinson. Now, the boys’ varsity baseball team prepare for their season opener game against Boyd Anderson on Tuesday, February 21st at home.
