The Jim and Jan Moran club is a boys and girls club located in Deerfield Beach, Florida that allows children ages 6-18 to enjoy various sports, games, art activities, and much more. The club is open from 2-8 p.m on regular school days and from 12-8 p.m on Broward Public Schools Early Release Days. To register for the club, parents with children under the age of 15 must attend an orientation each new program year. However, if the child is 15 years of age or older, the child may attend their own orientation as long as a parent completes and signs the membership application. The price to become a member of the club is only $15 per year.
There are many activities that children can get involved in when they join the Jim and Jan Moran club. Sports like football, basketball, soccer, and even yoga are offered in the gymnasium at the club. In the library, children are able to play board games, watch movies, read, and get help with their homework. For those that are more artistically inclined, kids can participate in drawing, painting, and making collages. And for children interested in computers, there are computer based learning programs available for the kids as well as computer games.
Programs that are held at the club make it easy for many volunteers and kids to get involved. Code stars is a program that teaches children computer design and web based programming. “Smart Girls” is a great program for girls ages 8-18 to join and “Passport to Manhood” is a program that boys ages 8-18 can join. Another club included is the Torch Club, where members learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness, and social recreation. The Keystone club affords teens a way to gain leadership experience. In this club, they also dive into career exploration, academic success techniques, and community service. The boys and girls club is an awesome way for children to get active and learn many skills they can use later on in life. The club allows for parents to leave children at a safe and fun environment with trusted adults while parents go to work. Volunteers are always welcome at the boys and girls club. For only $15 a year, this is truly a great deal.
