Black history month is an annual observance holiday in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for remembrance of important people and events such as the ones that shaped African-American history, including the Civil War, abolition of slavery and civil rights movement. This annual celebration of achievements by black Americans was the created by Carter G. Woodson a noted African American historian.
The Deerfield Beach High School band will be having a Black History Month Showcase on Thursday, February 25th in the auditorium at 6pm. There is no admission fee but donations are welcomed. The show will consist of orchestra, Jazz band, concert band, and also solo performers. Students who are interested in being apart of the show can contact the band director, Mr. Reed, in the band room after school.
