SECME is part of the diversity in STEM education that helps students engineer their interests in science and mathematics. SECME stands for Science, Engineering, Communication, Mathematics, and Enrichment and the club is offered to students in grades K-12. This program is designed to motivate as well as enlighten the minds of kids who seek to pursue a future in Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering. The SECME club here at Deerfield Beach High School meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday after school in room 537 with Mr. Smith. Students may showcase projects and engage in hands-on activities that can expand their comfort zone. The National Strategic Alliance also assists to mentor these kids to achieve their highest potential with guidance from local universities, government, and industry agents. Students go beyond classroom teachings and attend Saturday seminars to listen in on practicing engineers that take part in activities that include egg drop containers, mouse trap cars etc. For more details and information, visit: www.discoveringengineering.org.
