The City of Coconut Creek Parks & Rec. Department has a couple of upcoming volunteer opportunities.  Attached are the volunteer’s registration form and code of conduct that must be submitted prior to volunteering.

Fall Harvest

Date: Saturday, November 22, 2014

Time: 1:30PM to 6:30PM

Location: Sabal Pines Park, 5005 NW 39th Avenue

As a volunteer you will be assigned to one of the following areas:

Parking and trackless train

  • Check parking passes before allowing anyone through and stop cars if trackless train is crossing
  • Assist at the front of the trackless train line to keep order and assisting with loading if needed
  • Helps with clean up at the end of the event

Pumpkin Patch/Maze/Tree

  • Watch over this children’s area making sure the kids behave and that the lines do not get out of hand
  • If anyone gets lost in the maze, assist in escorting them to the exit
  • Take photos if someone hands them their camera or phone camera to take a picture in the pumpkin patch
  • Fills the tree with leaves when needed
  • Helps clean up the area at the end of the event

 

Handicraft Fair

  • Assist the Women’s Club with vendor set up
  • If anything is needed by the Women’s Club, they will assist in providing it
  • Make sure the public enters and exits through the proper location
  • Helps clean up area at end of event

 

Dodge Ball

  • Help staff with the various groups
  • Retrieve ball when needed
  • Assists with clean up & breakdown

 

 Holiday  Hayride

Date: Friday, December 19, 2014

Time: 5:00PM to 10:00PM

Location: Sabal Pines Park, 5005 NW 39th Avenue

As a volunteer you will be assigned to one of the following areas:

 

Fire Pit

  • Volunteers will assist the people with toasting their s’mores, showing them how to do it
  • Volunteers will oversee the area making sure no one gets burned or does anything that might endanger their safety
  • Clean up & breakdown of inflatables

 

Arts & Crafts

  • Volunteers assist the kids with making a holiday craft
  • If the wind is too high, they will hand them to the children
  • Help people on and off the trailer
  • Assists hayride participants getting onto the trailer (this year we will have two trailers)
  • Keeps order on the line and checks to make sure that everyone has a wristband
  • Clean up & breakdown of inflatables

 

Hot chocolate and water dispersing

  • Makes the hot chocolate
  • Pours the hot chocolate and gives to hayride participants
  • Pours the water and gives to hayride participants
  • Keeps the area clean
  • Clean up & breakdown of inflatables
